Previous leaks have also indicated the successor to the Moto G will come with thinner bezels than its predecessor; a 2-megapixel front camera; front stereo speakers, support for microSD card; 1GB of RAM; 8GB of internal storage, and run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat with an upgrade path to Android L.

iPhone 6:Apple's 2014 iPhone, debuting September 9

iPhone 6:Apple's 2014 iPhone, debuting September 9

At a Glance

Apple's 2014 iPhone will be introduced at a September 9 media event. It will include a larger, redesigned form factor with 4.7" and 5.5" diagonal screens.

Specs

  • Release date: September 2014
  • Larger screen: 4.7" and 5.5"
  • NFC for new payments initiative
  • Sapphire crystal screen on some models
  • Faster and more efficient A8 chip

What We Expect

Apple's new iPhone 6 will be introduced at a September 9 media event at the Flint Center, the same location where Apple debuted the original Mac 30 years ago. An overwhelming number of iPhone 6 rumors and part leaks have given us a near-complete look at the device ahead of its launch.
With the iPhone 5, Apple increased the screen size of the device from 3.5 inches to 4 inches, and with the iPhone 6, the phone's display is going to grow even larger. Though Apple experimented with a range of screen sizes, the company settled on 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches for its two devices, which will bring the next iPhone in line with competing Android and Windows phones that have adopted larger displays.
Over the course of the last several years, consumer preference has shifted towards bigger screens, and Apple is now prepared to meet consumer demand for larger devices.
Rumored sizes of the new iPhone 6 compared to iPhone 5, iPad mini, iPad air

Along with a larger screen, both models of the iPhone 6 are expected to adopt design elements from the iPad and the iPod touch. Alleged iPhone 6 schematics and part leaks have suggested the iPhone 6 will be considerably thinner than the current iPhone 5s, which is 7.6 mm. The final version of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is said to be 6.9 mm thick, 138 mm long, and 66 mm wide. The 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is said to be 7.1 mm thick, 158 mm long, and 78 mm wide.
The phones will also include rounded iPad-style corners, pill-shaped volume buttons, thick antenna bands, a rounded True Tone dual-LED flash, an embedded Apple logo, and a power button located on the right side of the device.
Rumors have suggested at least some models of the iPhone 6 might feature a durable sapphire display and both the 4.7 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 are expected to see camera improvements. The larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 might incorporate Optical Image Stabilization as a differentiating feature from the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, and it is also possible that the larger iPhone 6 will be the only model with a 128GB storage capacity, which has been mentioned in rumors and seen in leaked schematics. As a result, the larger phone might have a higher price tag.
Images of a completed logic board have suggested the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will continue to offer 16GB of storage space at the low end, along with 1GB of RAM, support for NFC, and a Qualcomm MDM9625M LTE Modem that supports speeds of up to 150 Mbps. Specifications for the larger 5.5-inch iPhone remain unknown, but the device will likely include many of the same components.

While Apple is expected to introduce both the 4.7 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 models at its September event, there has been some disagreement about the launch date of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6. Due to production issues that may or may not be resolved, the larger 5.5-inch iPhone could launch alongside the 4.7-inch version, or at a somewhat later date.

Benchmark confirms monster specs for upcoming Motorola Nexus X

Motorola Nexus X Specs
The upcoming Motorola Nexus X (Nexus 6) was spotted on benchmarking site GFXBench in mid-August, although the site only revealed certain details about the rumored handset at the time. Since then, information about the handset has been updated on GFXBench, AndroidWorld reports, with the website apparently confirming what a recent Nexus 6 AnTuTu benchmark sighting has suggested – that the handset will indeed pack monster specs.
According to the GFXBench listing for the Motorola Shamu (Nexus X), the phone has a 5.2-inch display with 2560 x 1440 display, 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 12-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, a slew of sensors including barometer and NFC, and Android L under the hood.
A recent report claimed that Google might be interested in launching two different Nexus X models when it comes to screen size, including a 5.9-inch and a 5.2-inch model, which would explain the screen size discrepancies between the various reports that offer hardware details for this particular Motorola handset.
The Nexus X is expected to arrive in late October with Android L in tow.

Google starts replacing damaged Nexus 5 phones for free

Google starts replacing damaged Nexus 5 phones for free

nexus 5 camera
Google, according to several user posts on Google+, has recently opened up a replacement program for people who damage their Nexus 5. While the company has yet to officially announce this program, users are reporting that if you have a damaged Nexus 5, Google will offer a one-time replacement for free.

There are no limits on what the damage could be, either. Google is supposedly replacing devices with water damage and cracked screens for free, as long as you send the damaged device back to them. HTC and Motorola have started similar programs recently. In Google’s case, this may be an attempt to clear out stock of the Nexus 5, as it’s coming up on nearly a year of availability, meaning that a successor should be right around the corner.
To take advantage of the recently-launched program, simply call Google Play customer support, explain your damage, and they will send you a refurbished Nexus 5 for totally free. Once you get the refurbished unit, simply send your damaged device back to them.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Note Edge: A look at the key specs

Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Note Edge: A look at the key specs

The Note 4 with improved S-Pen
By tech2 News Staff /  04 Sep 2014 , 15:30
Samsung’s premium phablet the Galaxy Note 4 was unveiled at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin. The company also announced a new version of the Note, the Note Edge. So what are the specifications of the Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge like? We take a quick look. Interestingly, the Note 4 can also be paired with the Samsung Gear Virtual Reality Headset.

Screen
As the rumour mills had predicted, Samsung has given this smartphone a Quad-HD display with a 2560×1440 p resolution on a  Super AMOLED screen. The screen is 5.7-inches in size which is the same as the Galaxy Note 3. Samsung has just boosted the pixels on this one and the pixel density has gone up from 386 ppi in Note 3 to an astounding 515 ppi. The display on the Note 4 is a Super AMOLED, and it’s covered by 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3.

Where the Note Edge is concerned, it has a 5.6-inch screen but the resolution is Quad HD+ at 2560 x 1440 + 160. (It has 160 pixels extra) The name of the device comes from the screen, where the right edge of the screen folds to cover the side of the device. Basically on this curved edge of the smartphone, users get quick access to frequently used apps, alerts and device functionality – even when the cover is closed or the screen is locked.

Processor, RAM, Memory Space

Like the Note 3, the Note also comes in two processor versions, one with a 2.7 GHz quad-core one and another with an 1.9 GHz Octa-core processor. The quad-core one is with Snapdragon 805 chipset, which brings LTE Cat 6 support and the Octa-core processor has Samsung’s Exynos 5433 chipset and LTE Cat 4 connectivity. The Galaxy Note Edge is only coming in one version with a 2.7 GHz quad-core processor.

Both smartphones comes with 3 GB of RAM. In terms of memory space, the Note 4 will come only in a 32 GB version, while the Note Edge will have a 32 and 64 GB version. Both smartphones will support microSD upto 64 GB. It is strange Samsung hasn’t launched a 64 GB version of the Note 4.

The OS is Android 4.4 (KitKat) along with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI as well.

Camera

Samsung says Note 4′s camera is much more advanced. The device has 16 megapixel rear-facing camera featuring a Smart Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) system to deal with camera shake. It also automatically extends exposure time in dark settings. The front camera is a 3.7 megapixel front-facing camera with f1.9 offers a default 90 degree shooting angle and up to 120 degree wide angle to allow wider shots such a group photo from the front camera. The Note Edge also has the same camera specifications.

Battery

The Galaxy Note 4 has a a Li-ion 3,220mAh battery along with Fast Charging. Samsung Note 4 also has an Ultra Power Saving Mode to preserve battery. The Note Edge also comes with fast charging but a 3000 mAh battery.

S-Pen, Fingerprint scanner

Samsung has continued its customary improvements to the S-Pen and according to the company the Note 4 and Note Edge’s S Pen have a more user-friendly Air Command functionality. Other features include Action Memo, Screen Write, Image Clip and Smart Select.

There’s also the Snap Note feature which allows users to take a picture of their notes on a paper or a classroom board, and then quickly and easily convert to the S Note. The Note 4 also has a Fingerprint scanner, a Heartrate monitor and according to Samsung, this is the world’s mobile with a UV sensor. The Note Edge also has all these features as well.

According to Samsung the Note 4 also has multiple microphones and an improved speaker phone for better noise cancellation and a built-in Voice Recorder which offers eight directional voice tagging. Sadly, all those eye-scanner rumours didn’t come true.

Colours, availability: Samsung continues with its tradition of giving weird names to the colour of their devices. With Note 4, the colour names are “Charcoal Black,” “Frost White,” “Bronze Gold,” and “Blossom Pink”. The smartphone goes on sale in October and the company hasn’t specified the price. When it launches in India, it would be very surprising if the device is priced less than Rs 50,000 like the last version of the Note.

New Moto X+1 images leak, confirm some design details

New Moto X+1 images leak, confirm some design details

01 September, 2014 |
Two new images of the upcoming Moto X+1 have surfaced, courtesy of TK Tech News.

The latest images show the front and back of the phone. Along the front we see the loudspeaker below the display as on the Moto E but it's not sure if the one above the display is a second loudspeaker or just the earpiece. There are also the four sensors in the four corners of the phone similar to the Amazon Fire but their functionality remains a mystery.
On the back we see the camera with an oversized Motorola logo. The logo is actually a power button, which explains its side. The ring around the camera lens has a flash built into it.
The picture shows the phone with a wood finish back and aluminum frame around the side. The source says the phone will be available in multiple material options for the back, including plastic, wood, leather, denim, and even a carbon fiber option that will apparently be exclusive to Verizon.
Motorola event is slated for September 4, which is just three days away from now. We should find out more then.
