Just like last time, 150,000 people had registered to get their hands on 20,000 units of the Xiaomi Mi3 listed on the Flipkart site. And just like the previous flash sales, the fifth round too saw the devices being sold out in mere 2.3 seconds. With this, the Chinese company has now sold around 75,000 units on Flipkart in five sales.
Xiaomi’s vice president of international operations, Hugo Barra confirmed that all the 20,000 Mi3 devices were sold in a matter of 2.3 seconds.

Xiaomi‘s flash sale model has proved to be a huge crowd-puller and the Chinese company has attained overnight fame in India.
The first sale lasted for less than 40 minutes. The second, third sale and fourth sale lasted for five, two and 2.4 seconds respectively.
In a chat with BGR India, Xiaomi’s VP Hugo Barra revealed how they had underestimated the demand for the Mi 3 in India and apologized on behalf of the company.
Flipkart had advised interested buyers to be online and be logged in here an hour before the sale begins. At the stroke of two, users quickly hit the buy button to reserve one unit for themselves. The lucky ones who got the smartphone in their cart, now have until midnight to pay for the smartphone.
Only those who registered after the close of the last sale on August 12 were eligible to buy the Xiaomi Mi 3 in this sale. Registration for the next sale will open at 6PM today itself.
