The bootloader of the HTC One (M8) for Windows rumored to support Android
Earlier this month, we asked you if you'd rather own an Android- or a Windows Phone-running HTC One (M8). The results were in favor of the HTC One (M8) for Windows, but what would happens if one lays their hands on the Windows Phone version of the flagship and finds out that the platform doesn't float their boat?
Normally, nothing can be done at this point, but a pretty interesting recent rumor claims that the bootloader of the HTC (W8), which is another moniker for the HTC One (M8) for Windows, will be open and identical to the one of the regular One (M8). Coming from @upleaks, the spiritual successor of the recently-retired @evleaks, this leak suggests that both the HTC One (M8) and One (M8) for Windows could run either Android or Windows Phone. This is still a theory, though, and if this rumor actually holds water, the ball will be in developers' court. They will have to port Windows Phone 8.1 to the One (M8), but provided that the bootloader of the HTC W8 is open and both versions of the flagship come with one and the same internals, this shouldn't be much of a challenge.
