Xiaomi has revealed a few new details about the Redmi 1S at the event in Bangalore. The company will be launching the smartphone sometime in the first week of September, at a price tag that could be even lower than Rs 6,999, which it had announced earlier, 91Mobiles.com reports.

The Redmi 1S will be available exclusively on Flipkart and will follow the same flash sale model as the Mi 3. In other words, you will have to pre-register before a scheduled sale and quickly reserve a unit on the day of sale. But unlike the Mi 3, Xiaomi has promised that there will be more units of the Redmi 1S on launch.
Xiaomi has also announced that the Redmi 1S accessories will be launched alongside the smartphone. You will be able to buy screen protectors in shiny and matte finishes for Rs 179, a back cover for Rs 469, and a flip cover for Rs 559.
To recap on the specifications, the Redmi 1S sports a 4.7-inch HD 720p display with Dragontrail glass protection, and is powered by a 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor paired with Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM.
Also featured is 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB internal storage that can be further expanded using the microSD card slot, and a 2,000mAh battery. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean wrapped under Xiaomi’s MIUI.
With the Rs 6,999 price tag and specs not seen in this segment, the Xiaomi Redmi 1S was expected to give some tough competition to the likes of the popular Motorola Moto E. But if priced any lower, it will simply blow away all the competition.
